Perbandingan antara erupsi Gunung Bromo Tahun 2010 – 2011 dan erupsi Kompleks Gunung Tengger

Erupsi semburan abu secara terus-menerus berlangsung di Gunung Bromo sejak akhir November 2010 sampai saat ini merupakan kejadian erupsi yang tidak seperti biasanya. Di dalam catatan sejarah yang dimulai tahun 1804 erupsi Gunung Bromo pada umumnya hanya berlangsung dalam beberapa hari saja, walaupun pernah terjadi erupsi selama empat bulan pada tahun 1995. Erupsi seperti yang terjadi saat ini sebenarnya merupakan ciri erupsi dari Kompleks Gunung Tengger. Proses ini adalah erupsi freatomagmatik yang diakibatkan oleh kontak antara magma dengan air bawah permukaan atau formasi batuan yang banyak mengandung air menghasilkan abu dan material vulkanik halus lainnya, ketika terjadi erupsi.

ABSTRACT
There bursts of ash eruptions took place continuously in Mt. Bromo since late November 2010 until now, these eruptive events are not as usual. In historical record that began in 1804 the eruption of Mt. Bromo generally only lasts a few days, even though eruptions have occurred during four months in 1995. Eruption as it happened when it is actually a characteristic eruption of Mount Tengger Complex. This process is a phreatomagmatic eruptions caused by a contact between the magma below the surface with ground water or rock formations that contain lots of water to produce fine volcanic ash and other materials, when the eruption occurred.
